Manilva Expands Police Force with New Academy Recruits
A fresh cohort of trainee officers joins the regional academy to reinforce local policing across Sabinillas, Puerto de la Duquesa and Manilva Pueblo.
A permanent community of more than 18,000 residents across nearly a hundred nationalities requires modern frontline policing. Manilva Town Hall confirmed on 25 September that a new contingent of recruit officers has officially commenced intensive operational training at the regional public security academy, entering the final preparatory stage before stepping onto the beat.
Reinforcing Frontline Patrols
The recruitment intake follows competitive public examinations held throughout spring and summer to expand the municipal force. Once trainees conclude their classroom and tactical schooling in coming months, they will undergo field rotations alongside experienced officers across the municipality. The permanent deployment aims to bolster year-round neighbourhood patrols, improve rapid response times, and provide dedicated cover for bustling commercial and hospitality districts.
Balancing Seasonal and Resident Demands
Policing the western edge of Málaga province involves managing sharply distinct environments. Urban coastal centres such as San Luis de Sabinillas and the leisure port of Puerto de la Duquesa experience substantial influxes of holidaymakers and boat owners during peak periods, requiring visible community policing along promenades. Simultaneously, extensive hillside urbanisations demand coordinated patrols to safeguard residential avenues, private complexes and retail precincts.
Community Security Investment
Municipal leaders underscored that modernising local security is integral to social cohesion in an internationally diverse coastal town. Expanding the force's headcount enables continuous monitoring of commercial areas, traffic moderation around school runs, and prompt assistance for foreign homeowners navigating local municipal procedures. Town officials have confirmed that supplementary logistical gear and updated vehicle fleets will arrive concurrently to support the incoming officers.
