Marbella Approves €59m Five-Star Hotel Project
A landmark €59.3 million luxury hotel project has been unveiled in Marbella, bringing high-end hospitality and substantial employment to the municipality.
A major boost is on the horizon for the luxury hospitality sector on the Costa del Sol. A fresh €59.3 million investment has been earmarked to develop a brand-new five-star luxury hotel in Marbella, backed by the investment group behind the revived former Don Miguel complex.
Substantial Boost to Local Employment
The ambitious undertaking is spearheaded by Magna Hotels and Marbella Leisureland Investments, following their earlier €70 million revitalisation that successfully reopened the landmark Don Miguel site as a premium family resort. The new project, situated on adjacent grounds, represents one of the single largest hospitality capital commitments confirmed in western Malaga this autumn.
Crucially for the local economy, municipal planners estimate that operational staffing across direct and indirect positions will equate to roughly 2.88 per cent of the total registered unemployed workforce across Marbella. This injection of year-round employment offers welcome stability in a market that frequently contends with seasonal hospitality fluctuations.
Expanding the High-End Footprint
The scheme arrives as high-end tourism continues to demonstrate resilient international demand. While previous proposals for leisure water attractions on the parcel failed to materialise over the past decade, the redirection into bespoke five-star accommodation fits the town hall's broader strategy to attract affluent, non-seasonal visitors.
Formal planning and administrative procedures are advancing through municipal committees this September, with construction scheduling and opening targets to be outlined once final building permits conclude. For international residents and hospitality professionals in the area, the project signals enduring investor confidence in western Costa del Sol tourism infrastructure.
