Marbella FC Seals Landmark Luxury Partnership at Anantara Villa Padierna
Marbella FC has unveiled luxury resort Anantara Villa Padierna Palace as its primary front-of-shirt sponsor during a formal presentation inside the resort's Roman amphitheatre.
A Red-Carpet Kit Launch Against a Roman Backdrop
The stone tiers of the Roman amphitheatre at Anantara Villa Padierna Palace rarely host anything other than weddings and corporate galas. This week they were filled with football boots instead. Marbella FC brought its entire first-team squad, coaching staff and boardroom to the five-star resort to unveil a new shirt sponsorship deal that will see the hotel's name emblazoned across the club's kit for the 2026/27 campaign.
It made for an odd but striking juxtaposition: tracksuited players posing beneath Tuscan-style colonnades more accustomed to champagne receptions than changing-room team talks. For a club still establishing itself in Spain's crowded football pyramid, the setting alone sent a message about the scale of its ambitions.
Why a Luxury Resort Chose Football Over Golf
Five-star hotels on the Costa del Sol have traditionally spent their marketing budgets on golf and polo. The region's reputation was built on championship fairways and international tour events, and sponsorship money has historically followed that pattern rather than flowing towards local football clubs still finding their feet in the national league system.
Jorge Manzur, general manager of Anantara Villa Padierna, broke from that script. His decision to back Marbella FC follows the club's promotion into Primera Federación, the third tier of Spanish football and a significant step up from regional competition. Manzur argued that aligning with a municipal football project, rather than another golf tournament, gave the resort something it had been missing: a direct, weekly connection with the town itself.
The hotel is known globally for its Italianate architecture, its championship golf courses and its five-star guest list, but Manzur was candid about the gap between that reputation and the resort's relationship with the surrounding community. He described a hotel that had, for years, operated somewhat apart from everyday Marbella life despite sitting within its boundaries.
"A Genuine Sense of Shared Identity"
Speaking to the gathered squad and guests, Manzur set out the thinking behind the deal in plain terms. "The hotel chose five years ago to reconnect directly with our surrounding community," he said. "This agreement goes well beyond displaying a brand on a jersey; it is about establishing a genuine sense of shared identity and local belonging."
That framing matters for a resort whose clientele is largely international, drawn by its golf courses and its spa rather than its postcode. By backing a football club that locals follow every week, Villa Padierna is betting that civic goodwill carries value that a polo sponsorship or a one-off gala cannot replicate.
What It Means for Marbella FC's Ambitions
For the club itself, commercially run by Best 11 Group, the sponsorship arrives at a pivotal moment. Marbella FC is chasing promotion into Segunda División, Spanish football's second professional tier, a jump that requires not just results on the pitch but the financial infrastructure to compete with clubs that have decades of history and established fan bases behind them.
Best 11 Group chief executive Óscar Ribot described the tie-up as a natural fit between two organisations built around elite performance, one in hospitality, one in sport. He pointed out that linking the club's colours with one of Andalusia's best-known hotel addresses does more than bring in sponsorship income; it reinforces Marbella's standing as a destination that extends beyond beach clubs and property listings, giving the first-team squad a more stable commercial platform as they push for promotion.
What Fans and Residents Can Expect
With the kit now officially presented, the Anantara Villa Padierna branding will appear on Marbella FC shirts in every fixture next season, home and away, across Spain. For supporters, that means a recognisable local landmark travelling with the team to away grounds nationwide, a small but tangible form of promotion for the town itself.
For residents and the wider expat community who follow the club, the partnership is also a signal of intent. A five-star resort putting its name on a football shirt, rather than a golf leaderboard, suggests growing confidence that Marbella FC's progress up the leagues is not a passing phase. If the promotion push into Segunda División succeeds, this sponsorship may well be remembered as the moment the town's hospitality sector and its football club decided their fortunes were worth linking together.
