Mijas Finalises €751k Osunillas Water Network Upgrades
A crucial infrastructure upgrade in Osunillas has been brought into service, delivering modernised mains pipes and 130 direct connections across Mijas.
Crucial Upgrade for Mountain Enclave
A comprehensive revamp of the drinking water supply infrastructure in Osunillas has officially been brought into full service this week. The project, delivered by Mijas Town Hall, represents a capital investment of €751,000 designed to end persistent low-pressure issues and replace outdated piping that had served the mountainous residential zone for decades.
The works have overhauled the local distribution grid from top to bottom, introducing heavy-duty ductile materials and modern pressure-regulation systems. In total, 130 direct household connections have been systematically rebuilt and integrated into the municipal network, providing local families and international residents with a far more reliable domestic supply.
Strengthening Local Water Security
Water management remains a key priority across the municipality, and local infrastructure chiefs underscored that this scheme significantly cuts underground supply losses. By eliminating structural leaks that often affected older pipeline sections along the hillside, the town retains vital water reserves while safeguarding neighbourhood supplies during peak dry spells.
Engineers also took advantage of the open trenches to recondition adjacent urban pathways and street surfaces, improving drainage and access across this traditional hillside area nestled between the coastal plain and Mijas Pueblo.
Long-Term Benefits for Residents
For residents in Osunillas, the formal handover marks the end of intermittent civil disruption caused by heavy machinery. Local municipal technicians will continue monitoring flow gauges and pressure readings throughout the coming days to guarantee seamless service.
Households experiencing any temporary pressure fluctuations during this initial commissioning phase are advised to notify municipal water customer services via the council's central support portal or contact local district offices for assistance.
