Lanserhof Marbella Opens at Finca Cortesin in Late 2026
Lanserhof opens its first southern-European resort at Finca Cortesin near Casares in late 2026, bringing 71 suites, a 2,900-square-metre medical floor and a 93-million-euro bet that longevity is the Costa del Sol's next luxury season.
The Costa del Sol has spent half a century selling sunshine, golf and beach clubs. Its next luxury season will be measured in different units: sleep quality, metabolic health and biological age. Lanserhof, one of Europe's best-known medical health resort groups, is opening its first resort in southern Europe on the grounds of Finca Cortesin, near Casares, in the final quarter of 2026.
Europe's most famous clinic picks the Andalusian coast
The German group is investing 93 million euros alongside the partners AltamarCAM and Inbest-GPF in a 23,500-square-metre building with 71 rooms and suites. The medical floor alone covers 2,900 square metres, with a further 1,840 square metres dedicated to spa, wellness and movement. The site sits less than 1.5 kilometres from the beach, with Marbella, Puerto Banus and Sotogrande a short drive away and Malaga airport fifty minutes up the coast. Lanserhof presents the project as its Mediterranean destination for longevity, beauty and restorative wellbeing.
Longevity is the new social season
The investment lands on a coast that has just broken its own records. Andalucia closed 2025 as the best tourism year in its history, with 37.9 million visitors and close to 27 billion euros in revenue, according to regional government data. The Costa del Sol alone welcomed 14.6 million visitors and posted record tourism revenue of 21.8 billion euros. Inside those totals, the fastest-growing guest is increasingly the health traveller: visitors who arrive for diagnostics, sleep programmes, medical check-ups and preventive care, and who plan their stay around a clinic rather than a tee time.
What it means for the coast
Placing a clinic-grade resort beside one of Spain's most decorated hotel and golf estates turns the quiet stretch between Casares and Estepona into a year-round wellness destination. Health guests travel off-peak, stay longer and spend more than the classic weekend visitor, extending the season well beyond the beach months. For Marbella's hotels, private clinics, trainers and nutritionists, longevity has stopped being a buzzword and become a calendar. When the first guests check in late next year, the Costa del Sol will be selling something more durable than a tan.
