Casares Upgrades Waste Water Infrastructure Under Regional Water Overhaul
Critical sanitation and treatment facilities in Casares receive upgrades through Acosol's network modernisation programme to protect the local environment.
Casares has entered the operational phase of a comprehensive sanitation overhaul as water utility Acosol executes key plant and pipeline modernisations across the municipality. Centred on the local wastewater treatment plant, EDAR Casares, the engineering works aim to eliminate infiltration issues, reduce energy consumption, and guarantee reliable environmental protection along the Manilva-Casares river basins.
Modernising EDAR Casares Treatment Systems
The upgrades at EDAR Casares include replacing ageing mechanical screening units, fitting high-efficiency aeration pumps, and incorporating automated digital monitoring sensors. These measures allow regional engineers to track outflow purity in real time, preventing discharges into local waterways during peak storm events.
The Casares plant forms an integral part of the broader Western Costa del Sol utility network. In coordination with regional funding streams, the local work packages address long-standing vulnerabilities caused by seasonal population swings, when water consumption and wastewater volume double across coastal urbanisations.
Upgrades Along Integrated Sewer Networks
Beyond the treatment site, technical crews are surveying and relining sections of the primary collector network that links inland residential communities to coastal discharge points. By deploying trenchless pipe rehabilitation technologies, engineers are sealing cracks that previously permitted groundwater infiltration, which frequently overburdened pumps during the autumn rainy season.
Town Hall representatives noted that municipal public works coordinators are working closely with regional contractors to sequence street-level excavations, ensuring that access routes between the whitewashed historic centre and the A-377 route down to the coast encounter minimal disruption.
Securing Long-Term Water Sustainability
The Casares intervention forms part of the region's wider resilience strategy to modernise water cycles following consecutive seasons of drought. The upgrades not only protect local ravines and coastal bathing waters from accidental runoffs but also increase the supply of high-grade reclaimed water suitable for irrigating regional agricultural holdings and world-class golf fairways throughout the municipal boundaries.
